GAMMI is thrilled to introduce James R. Young, MD to our practice.

With 30 years of surgical experience, Dr. Young is highly regarded as one of the best surgeons in Greenville, South Carolina. Born and raised in Anderson, SC Dr Young comes from a legacy of physicians there where his father both grandfathers and his great aunt  practiced medicine into their 80’s. Dr. Young attended Medical School at Wake Forest University and after completing a residency in General Surgery he became board-certified. Most of his career was spent practicing surgery in Greenville, where he was also elected and served as President of the Medical Staff at Bon Secours hospital overseeing and reviewing new physicians in the network.

Throughout all his years in surgery from non cardio thoracic, vascular, general including oncological and endocrine to minimally invasive surgery Dr. Young encountered many cases of preventable diseases, which inspired him to shift focus towards a more proactive, preventive medical practice.

He pursued further education, completed a fellowship and became formally trained and certified obtaining his latest degree in Age Management Medicine. This specialty aligns with his commitment to a proactive, preventive approach to medicine, aiming to increase health-span and prevent age-related diseases and the decline of quality of life associated with them.
